Ounce of Prevention

While the origin of the advice is often wrongly attributed to Benjamin Franklin the lesson “Penny wise and pound foolish” remains incredibly valid. Our water supply systems fixes are underway but the other half of the system, the sewer lines, are in desperate need of attention before the costs become exorbitant. They are at the end of their expected service life and without immediate attention put us all at risk of a large assessment should our lines clog.

Modern systems exist to bring the system up to date but for some unfathomable reason, our board has delayed approval to begin the process of evaluation. In order to fix a known problem the system needs cleaning before professional and technical evaluation because you CANNOT FIX WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE. We have ample evidence of significant issues entirely related to age and expected life span.

As it stands a probable $5,000 assessment per lot to rip up a road to fix a clogged sewer is looming over our property values. Right now, we cannot  honorably sell our homes without disclosing such information. If it is fixed, conversely, our property values will increase.
